Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope wherever you are today—around a table with family and friends, or by yourself, or working—you’re able to find a moment that fills your heart with gladness and gratitude.
You deserve it. We all do. Life is a gift, an unwarranted grace each and every one of us has received. It can get hard, for sure; it can be hard. Yet every day brings a new dawn, new possibilities, and—well, you just never know, do you?
A few days ago, in this week’s “The Sunday Poem” post here, I shared some of what I’m grateful for this year, but I just wanted to underline one of the many, many things that make me so thankful today.
You. Each one of you, and the whole Substack community, have changed my life—and you are all helping to change the practice of journalism in America, and the practice of democracy, too. Think about that. This change has been invigorating for me, and this communitarian journalism we’re building, it’s revolutionary for our country. Five years ago, none of this would have been possible. Now it’s happening—fast.
You just never know, do you?
Happy Thanksgiving, you beautiful revolutionaries.
