What does America look like when you get out and listen?
Tonight, I’d like to take you to Maine.
At 7 PM Eastern, we’re premiering the newest film in America in Person, my series of reports from around the country. And immediately afterward, I’ll be live on YouTube to take your questions and talk about what we found.
Maine in October is a beautiful place.
But behind the postcard views are people wrestling with some hard questions about making a living, belonging in this country, and finding someone in Washington who will actually listen.
We met lobstermen working to keep a way of life afloat. A maple producer feeling the bite of tariffs. Somali Americans with something urgent to say about the country they call home.
There’s humor here, candor, frustration—and some encounters that have stayed with me.
The Senate race gives this story national stakes. But the people give it life.
Their experiences, their arguments, their hopes for their families: this is what I went to Maine to hear, and what I want to share with you.
The film runs about half an hour. Watch with us at 7, then join me for a live Q&A immediately afterward, around 7:30 Eastern. Bring your questions about Maine, the midterm election, or how we put this report together.
And this I want to make sure you understand:
Your support makes this kind of reporting possible. Thank you for helping me get out there.
See you tonight,
—Terry
P.S. Know someone who loves Maine—or someone who wants to hear more from Americans themselves? Please send them this invitation.
